Under the RTE Act, every child has the right to get mandatory education. Following the Act, the Tamil Nadu Department of Education has opened the application for the RTE admissions of LKG and class 1 students belonging to weaker sections of the state from 22 April 2024.
As per the Act, private schools are obliged to give admissions to weaker sections of students on 25% seats in private schools for free to ensure every child gets an education.
According to the reports, 3950 seats are reserved for eligible students at 328 private schools of Coimbatore districts for the TN RTE admissions 2024-25. People who wish to see their child educated in a private school for free must apply for the TN RTE Admission applications before 20 May 2024.
The District Education office has also instructed the private schools to put the board of TN RTE Admission in front of the school to spread the message to everyone.

The date of announcing the results of the lottery system is yet to be announced officially by the authorities, but we expect the result will be announced on 22 or 23 May 2024.
The admissions of the students will be decided through the lottery system if schools receive more applications than the seats available and to ensure fairness in the process. The final list of students who got admitted under the TN RTE admission will be announced on the official website of the TN RTE admissions.
Eligibility for TN RTE admission 2024-25
The parents can check the following eligibility criteria of their child to know whether they can apply for the TN RTE admission applications for the 2024-25 academic year:
Age Limit:
- The child should come under the age bracket of 3 to 6 years to apply for the TN RTE admissions 2024.
Category and Income Limit:
- The applicants must belong to the weaker section and disadvantaged sections of the states.
- The applicants must be permanent residents of Tamil Nadu.
- Students coming from the BPL section, SC/ST category can apply for TN RTE admissions.
- Disabled students, orphaned, HIV-affected, transgender-identified, scavenging workers not employed in government offices can apply for the TN RTE admissions application for the 2024-25 session.

- Student Photo (150pc X175 px)
- DOB certificate
- Address Proof (Driving License, Family card, Bank Passbook, and so on)

Eligible parents can follow the below steps to apply for the TN RTE Admissions applications online:
- Go to the TN RTE Admission at https://rteadmission.tnschools.gov.in/
- Next, click on the “Start Application” on the webpage.
- Now, enter the required personal details in the application form, such as name, religion, community, DOB, etc.
- Now, move to parent details, fill in the required details such as profession, name, and income, and submit the details.
- Now, enter the address details or mark the nearest landmark on the webpage.
- After address confirmation, you must upload the scanned copy of the required documents on the portal.
- Now, select the schools from the list of schools available, where you wish your child to study according to your location and preferences.
- Now, finally, submit the button after reviewing all the details of the TN RTE Admission application form.
