  • The recipient can also call the Social Security Administration toll-free number to inquire about their social security account and benefits at 1 800 772 1213 between 8 AM to 7 PM local time except on weekends.

What to do if your social security payments go missing? 

The federal government pays the social security payments electronically via direct deposit to the bank account of the beneficiaries or through Direct express debit Mastercard, so the payments rarely go missing.  But still, due to some reasons, the payment can go missing, let’s see what you should do if you ever face such a situation:

  • First, you should check your bank account for any payment details or call your bank operator to be certain that your account is fine and working properly. 
  • You can contact the SSA at the toll-free number 800 772 12 13 and 800 325 0778 for TTY. The SSA officer will review your request and fill you with the details of the missing payment. If your payment is missed, the SSA will replace your payout.  
  • If you still receive the payment through paper checks, you should wait for additional days from the payment date. However, the SSA advised the recipients to wait for three additional mailing days from the designated date to call the SSA.
